ADRAKA ( Ginger )
Today once again I am going to take you all along with me in the journey of Ayurvedic herbs.
So let's start- As you all know that in Ayurveda treatment herbal plants is used for treating many ailments and it gives tremendous good effect so here I am going to share another plant.
Adraka ( ginger ) yes you read right a simple spice in our kitchen. This is one of the most important medicinal herb used in almost each and every disease.
Adraka is a flowering plant of about 1 foot found in every part of India whose rhizome is used.
When rhizome is used in the wet form it is known as Adraka but when it is used in it's dried form it is known as Shunthi. Both Adraka and Shunthi is used for treating diseases. But in this blog I am going to share the benefits of only Adraka.
Medicinal Properties of Adraka
Promotes Digestive fire
In Ayurveda Samhita it is said that before starting the meal Adraka should be eaten every time with Lavana ( salt).
It increases our appetite, promotes digestive fire so that a meal should be digested properly and meals should further help our body in gaining nutrition.
Anorexia ( เค

As Adarka promotes digestive fire it also helps in coping up with the problem of Anorexia.
Anorexia is a symptom in which a person doesn't want to eat anything.
But Adraka due to its rasa it cleans tongue and throat, pacifies imbalanced dosha, and helps in easing anorexia.
Cold and Cough
Adraka due to its Kaphahar property it helps in treating cold and cough.
It is used with honey in cold and cough.
Headache
Headache which generally occurred in the winter season in that case Adraka Lepa is beneficial.
Adraka should grind thoroughly and applied over the forehead region. Due to its warm property it helps in reducing headaches.
