Udvartana - Procedure for weight reduction


Obesity is one of the most common lifestyle disorder in today's era, the majority of people is affected by this problem.
Weight management is important cosmetically as well as for healthy being as Obesity causes many other diseases which hamper the daily routine of people.
So in today's topic, I am going to make you people aware of how Ayurveda is useful in treating this problem,  What type of Panchakarma is useful in the healing of obesity.

There is a procedure in Panchakarma named Udvartana which is majorly used in treating obesity.

Udvartana 

It is a simple procedure of massaging the whole body with medicated herbal powders in a specific direction.
Medicated herbal powder is selected by the practitioner according to the patient's Prakriti, different types of medicated powder such as Kolkulthadi churna, Triphala churna, Yava churna, Kulatha churna, etc are used in Udvartana.

There are also some other benefits of Udvartana such as -

  • It helps in improving the texture and complexion of the body.
  • It helps in decreasing the feeling of heaviness.

Procedure of Udvartana -

The patient is advised to undergo the procedure at any time of day but it is good if the procedure is done in the morning after evacuating the bowel and bladder and he/she is an empty stomach.

Then the Patient is subjected to Udvartana in this massaging is done with the help of dry medicated powder in a direction opposite to that of hairs.

The whole procedure of Udvartana completes in about 30-45minutes.

After the procedure patient is advised to take rest for about 15 minutes then allowed to take a bath with only lukewarm water.

Udvartana is a short Panchakarma procedure but an effective one.
