Approach of Ayurveda in weight management
Body shaming is so overrated, either that is fat-shaming or skinny shaming, people always judge you on physical appearance. If you as an individual is confident in your body no one can shame you, disgrace you. But if you are not healthy, you are facing health-related issues because of your more weight or less weight then you should take actions very seriously and respond to your body call.
In this blog, I am focusing on skinny shaming i.e underweight and give you a short description about Karshya - कार्श्य
( a condition in which a person is not able to gain weight ) in the Ayurveda context.
Now starts with the word Karshya.
It is a condition in which nutrition provided by foods is not absorbed by the body completely and hence the body becomes very lean and skinny.
According to Ayurveda classics, Karshya is one of the diseases caused due to disturbance in rasavaha strotas ( first micro-channel or canal type structure of the body which is responsible for absorption of nutrition and also to provide nutrition to other micro-channels). When this channel got disturbed due to some causes it hampers providing nutrition to other micro-channels which ultimately leads to Karshya.
As you can understand what is Karshya and how it occurs in a short brief but there's arises a question how will you crosscheck the causes of Karshya with your problem, so let's start a short exercise while questioning yourself -
1. If you are the person who skips a meal very frequently or not?
2. If you are sleep deprived or not?
3. If you exercise vigorously?
4. If you are suffering from a chronic disease?
5. If you stop your nature call like the urge of urination, urge of sneezing very often or not?
6. If you are suffering from mental stress, having a load of work that is hampering your social life or not?
7. If you always feel stressed about very minute things or not?
The above questions will help you to find out the reason behind your problem and as soon as you find the reason behind your problem you will also find out a solution very soon.
As soon as you find your cause of this problem firstly avoid that cause as Nidana-parivarjan निदान-परिवर्जन (avoidance of causes) is the first rule of treatment and then your other treatment plans will be started.
For treatment there are various Ayurvedic internal medications for weight gain and also panchakarma therapies are also mentioned for this.
Panchakarma procedures like Abhyanga with medicated oils, Anuvasna Basti, and Brihana Nasya all are mentioned and very well effective which I am going to tell you in my other blog.
Along with the therapies diet also plays a crucial role in treating, specific diets are also advised which will be published in another blog.
A medicinal plant named Ashwagandha which is an essential drug in the treatment of this condition is already published in my blog.
Till then take care of you all and be safe at your place.
