Suffering from Bloating- Here's 10 things to do





Bloating is a common digestive health problem. It is a feeling of fullness, gassiness, and abdominal discomfort. 


Do you know around 10-20% of healthy individuals suffer from occasional bloating, and people diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) have bloating as a common symptom. 


The more you eat greasy foods, fast food, and eat your food quickly, the more likely you are to feel bloated. Bloating also causes your belly to appear larger than usual, which some people confuse with an accumulation of fat, but it's not the same for everyone. 


In this article, we'll provide you with some easy tips to prevent bloating. 


Tips to relieve Bloating 


  1. Avoid drinking carbonated drinks- Carbonated drinks contain a lot of gas that can cause bloating in the stomach. Therefore, to avoid bloating it is best to stop drinking fizzy carbonated drinks. 
  2. Exercise daily for about 30 minutes or go for a walk for 30 minutes- Exercise is one of the best activities to keep your bowel healthy. Regular exercise helps clear out the stool and gas easily which helps in relieving the bloating.  
  3. Avoid eating chewing gums- Chewing gum contains an excessive amount of sugar, which leads to bloating. Additionally, chewing gums can cause bloating due to their tendency to swallow air, so it's a must to avoid them. 
  4. Eat your foods slowly- If you are a quick eater, then it's time to change this habit, as while swallowing the food quickly there is a chance of swallowing the air which causes bloating. So, it is important to eat the food slowly. 
  5. Make sure to eat your foods at a regular interval of time- Heavy foods and a large number of foods affect the metabolism of the digestive system. Therefore, it is a must to eat your foods at a regular interval of time in a small quantity to avoid this. 
  6. Keep a note of food products that may cause you bloating- Each person has a different constitution, and each body is different so some food items may cause bloating. So, make sure to keep a note of the food product you eat when you feel bloating more than usual. 
  7. Add black pepper to your food- Black pepper is an important spice in Indian cuisine as well as in Ayurveda. For better digestion, black pepper (Kali mirch) is advised to add to dishes. 
  8. Avoid the combination of sour fruits and milk together- Sour fruits and milk are said to be Mithya i.e. Incompatible food combination and if one is eating this combination for a long time, it can affect the digestive system leading to many diseases. 
  9. Make a tea using ajwain powder and saunf powder- In Ayurveda to keep the digestive system healthy there are mention of several herbs and spices and among them, ajwain and saunf are the two most important. If you are suffering from bloating, then you can make a tea using Ajwain powder 2gm and Saunf powder 2gm and drink it twice to relieve bloating. 
  10. Add Munga Soup to your diet- Munga is a good appetizer and good for the digestive system, therefore adding Munga Soup to your diet also helps in relieving bloating. 


When to reach out to a Doctor


If you are suffering from the following symptoms you must consult a doctor: 

  • Diarrhea or constipation 
  • Vomiting 
  • Change in appetite 
  • Sudden weight loss or weight gain 
  • Excessive pain in the belly 
  • Fever 


Bloating is not so serious symptom, and many of the time, it resolves from some remedies and tips, or by making a lifestyle healthy.
