Hello readers, here I am again with a new blog related to plants. So today I am going to share about the plant name Ashwagandha.
Ashwagandha is known as Withania somnifera in Latin name and in English it is known as winter cherry.
Here's arise a question why this plant is known as ashwagandha what it actually means.
Ashwagandha means a plant from which the smell of horse comes.
Ashwagandha = ashwa ( अश्व ) + gandha ( गन्धा ).
It is a shrub of about 3-4 feet and usually founds in the warm regions especially in Srilanka, Afghanistan, and Baluchistan. Nowadays It is also cultivated in some parts of India.
From a medicinal point of view a root of ashwagandha is used.
There are some formulations used by Ayurveda Doctors which consist of Ashwagandha some formulations are Ashwagandha Rasayana, Ashwagandhadi Ghrita, and Ashwagandharishta.
In short, Ashwagandha is mainly a plant, a medicinal herb that helps in strengthen our body in each term as It provides strength to the nervous system, to work as a nervine tonic, provides strength to the reproductive system to cope up with sexual disorders, gives strength to the bone. It overall helps in providing strength for healthy well being and works as a good energy booster for our body.
