10 Food Items to Boost the Immune System



In a continuation of the Immunity series, after understanding the concept of the Immune system and analyzing the immune system as per Ayurveda, Now the next step is to know the diet that will boost the immune system. 

Apart from a daily diet that you are taking either dal, chapati, vegetables, and seasonal fruits, Here I am giving you a brief of 10 food items that you should add to your diet to strengthen the immune system. 

So let's take a look-

1. Munga Dal


Also known as Green Gram or Munga Beans. 

To strengthen the immune system and to promote health, intake of munga dal should be increased. As per Ayurveda Munga dal is the best among all the pulses and it is best in increasing the Bala i.e strength. 

It nourishes the body and increases physical strength. So it is beneficial to add more to your diet.

2. Urad Dal (Black Gram) or Mash Daal- 


It is another dal that you should add to the diet due to its various benefits like it strengthen the body, maintains the Vata dosha, strengthens the body, highly energizer, and nutritious. 

[Tip- Some exceptions in which Urad dal should be restricted like in skin disorders, blood vitiated diseases, gout, etc.

3. Cow Milk


Cow milk is said to be the best among all the things that can help in increasing strength. It is good for nourishing the body. It also has rejuvenating properties. It gives energy and also has a calming effect on the body. 

So make it a habit to take 1 glass of Cow milk to build up and to strengthen the immune system. 

[Tip- If you are the one who is not able to consume milk or not able to digest milk easily then dilute 1/2 glass of milk with 1/2 glass of water. Diluted milk is easily digestible.

4. Munakka (Raisins)


Short in size but high in a nutritious property. Black Raisins is said to be Bala vardhaka i.e good to strengthen the body, beneficial in respiratory disorders, and help in treating Vata-Pitta dosha Disease. 

[Tip-Take 4-5 Raisins, soaked them overnight, and eat them the next morning.]

5. Khajura (Date palm)


It is rich in nutrition and also a good source of energy. 

It provides strength to the body. Due to its cool potency, it is beneficial to take them in summer also. 

6. Coconut (Nariyal)


 

It strengthens the immune system and nourishes the body. It helps in relieving tiredness and fatigue. 

The pulp of coconut fruit, as well as coconut water, are beneficial in boost up the immune system. 

[Tip- If you are suffering from acidity avoid dry coconut.]

7. Ginger (Adrak)


It is a commonly used spice in the Indian kitchen. 

Other than nourishing property, it is useful in the throat and respiratory disorders. It also enhances digestive power and works as an appetizer. 

Dry Ginger or Fresh ginger try to use them while making Dal, or any vegetable. 

8. Cow Ghee


It is not only good for the mind but also good for the mind. 

It's a myth that ghee leads to obesity, weight gain, etc. 

Cow ghee has several benefits if taken into proper quantity. It provides nourishment to the body while strengthening the immune system. It helps in digestion and balances Vata- Pitta dosha. 

9. Garlic (Lehsun)


Another spice used in the kitchen very commonly. 

It is said to be one of the best herbs in balancing the Vata Dosha. 

It is rich in nutritious property and provides strength and nourishment to the body. 

10. Barley (Jau)


One of the easily digestible food items, that are rich in protein and highly fibrous. Also, it is said to be good to strengthen the body. 

These are some food items that you can easily include in your diet without any hassle. So take it to them and strengthen your body system easily.
