Panchakarma



Panchakarma easily understood by people as detoxification of the body. A process through which impurities or toxins are removed from the body.
Nowadays there is a trend for Panchakarma but it only remains restricted to high-class people as common people thought it as a very expensive treatment, yes It is expensive in the private sector but not in government sector so there is an option to try this therapy at any govt Ayurvedic hospitals of your state.
Panchakarma is advised for both healthy persons and as well as sick persons but therapies for both of them are different.
But there's arise a question what is actually a Panchakarma, What type of procedure is included in it, which person is indicated to go for Panchakarma treatment, and who is contraindicated for this procedure.

Let's start with the word Panchakarma -

Panchakarma includes 5 karma ( 5 procedures of detoxification), five therapies used in the treatment of various diseases. It is said in Ayurvedic literature that before medicine regime patients should opt to Panchakarma procedure first according to there disease and then should start a medicine regime. As disease cured by Panchakarma has very few chances to reoccur than a disease cured by only medicines.
It is mentioned that Panchakarma helps in balancing improper dosha, it helps in treating chronic diseases, and with the help of Panchakarma, person power increases and leads to the betterment of his/her life.

There are three steps which are carried in Panchakarma -
  • Purvakarma ( before treatment) - A procedure used for the preparation of patients undergoing panchakarma procedure.
  • Pradhan Karma ( main treatment )- The main Panchakarma procedure indicated for that particular disease.
  • Paschata karma ( after treatment )  - After Panchakarma to restore the physical strength as well as gastric strength a specific dietary regime, rest and regular follow up is advised.

Now the main five procedure which is included in Panchakarma are -
  1. Vamana - A procedure in which toxins are removed by inducing the vomiting.
  2. Virechana - Expulsion of toxins of the lower gastrointestinal tract through anal route.
  3. Basti - It is a procedure in which the medicine is administered through the rectal, urethral, or vaginal route according to diseases.
  4. Nasya - A Procedure in which medicine is administered through nasal route.
  5. Raktamokshan - It is a minor surgical procedure of allowing the blood to bleed for therapy.
But how would you know that you are suitable for Panchakarma or not so starts questioning yourself with these questions -
  • If you are suffering from indigestion for a long time?
  • Your weight is increasing from the past few years?
  • You always felt a heaviness in your body whether your weight is increasing or not?
  • You don't feel enthusiastic to do work from the last few months?
  • For many years you are suffering from skin diseases?
  • Feeling of weakness irrespective of no diseases?
  • Is Your sleep pattern is fully disturbed either you sleep a lot or don't sleep at all?
